How it all started...
HANNAH HALDANE
Running Coach, Founder
Hi everyone! I'm Hannah Haldane, I’m 29 and I’m a qualified Personal Trainer and Run Leader, and I also help coach for my local running club South Shields Harriers. On top of this, I'm also a mammy to two little ones!
My running journey started in 2016 before I had kids, and in 2017 I decided to give my first half marathon a go. After that I joined my local running club and fell in love with running!
In April 2020, during the first national lockdown, I gave birth to my little girl Cora. Those first few months were hard, becoming a mother in the midst of a pandemic and trying to work out how running would fit into this new life! I knew I wanted to try buggy running and after some online research, I bought my first running buggy and started in October 2020 when Cora turned 6 months.
What followed soon after that was lockdown 2 and then lockdown 3. I couldn't work but my husband had to, so it was just me and baby most days. So, almost every day, I got out with Cora and our running buggy and we ran hundreds of miles together!
Having the freedom to run with my baby and no need for childcare was a game changer! I noticed how rarely I saw other buggy runners around my home town, and was approached by local mammies wondering how they could do it too as they just didn't have the childcare to get out to the gym or for a run on their own.
Unfortunately, running buggies are expensive and after doing a little research, I discovered there were absolutely no running clubs this side of the country offering running buggy hire for training. This is when I thought of the idea for Mammy Miles!
When Cora turned 1, I found out I was expecting our second little one and continued to run and buggy run all through my pregnancy until I gave birth to our son in December 2021. Having two babies under two was a whole new challenge but I always fought to keep my passion alive. I became an expert on navigating my training around little ones and buggy running was a huge part of this!
I officially launched Mammy Miles in May 2023 and since then we've already had some fantastic achievements and goals reached. Teaching mammies to run and buggy run has really became a true passion of mine! Running has been my theraphy over the years and has got me through some tough days, especially when raising little ones. I can honestly say it makes me a better mammy and I love sharing this with others!
I am still always training for the next big race but now I'm also helping many other mammies of the North East reach their goals and finding the love of running, even with their own demands of motherhood!
